PAWFECT FRIENDS run twice weekly classes where Children and Adults can learn to overcome that fear at their own pace.
"Nobody cares how much you know until they know you care"
Get Started TodayCynophobia (pronounced sy-no-FOH-bee-uh) is the intense, irrational fear of dogs.
It goes beyond simply feeling nervous around unfamiliar dogs. People with cynophobia may experience anxiety, panic attacks, or overwhelming dread even when seeing a dog from a distance, hearing barking, or simply thinking about dogs. This fear can significantly impact daily life, making it difficult to visit friends, walk in parks, or feel safe in public spaces.
The good news is that cynophobia is highly treatable. With the right support and gradual exposure in a safe environment, most people can overcome their fear and learn to feel comfortable around dogs.
Using tried and tested methods we allow individuals to progress at their own pace, building confidence through gradual exposure to dogs, using fun games and tasks.
New starters usually have a 1:1 induction and are accompanied by an experienced handler as much as needed in class. We provide a 'safe space' and give the child control.
As confidence grows we teach the knowledge and real world practical skills to support families as they progress. This includes outdoor sessions and trips to public spaces where dogs are expected.
Living with cynophobia doesn't have to be your reality. Our evidence-based approach has helped countless individuals overcome their fear and live more freely. It's not uncommon for families to go on to own their own dog.
We will help you to understand dogs a little more and help you feel more equipped to deal with coming across them day to day.
